Conversant’s Jiri Smetana , Patent Litigation Manager, is a panellist at the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s Bio IP Counsels Committee Conference.  Mr. Smetana is participating in a panel titled “The Great Divide: Induced Infringement of Method/Process Claims – An Industry Divide on What’s at Stake in Limelight v. Akamai,” moderated by Bryan Vogel, Partner, Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P.

The conversation will center on the long-running patent dispute in Limelight v. Akamai, upon which the U.S. Supreme Court is soon expected to rule.  At issue is the question of whether multiple entities can be found to be jointly infringing a single method/process patent claim. This session will discuss the potential ramifications of this decision, and focus on the divided opinions of different industries on an ideal outcome from the Court.

The biannual BIO Intellectual Property Counsels Committee Conference offers timely, relevant educational sessions on the latest issues in the biotech IP sector, informal networking events designed to promote discussion and foster relationships among industry colleagues, and practical tips for attendees to use the next day.
